Head of Planning – Leadership Role in a Fast-Growing Consultancy
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Planning to take the lead in a dynamic and innovative consultancy, driving project planning excellence across a range of major infrastructure and construction projects. This role offers the chance to shape the strategic direction of a high-performing team while remaining hands-on when necessary.
Operating at the forefront of technology and data-driven decision-making, the successful candidate will lead a team working on projects ranging from £1m to £1B+ across the UK and Europe, partnering with Owner/Operators, Main Contractors, and Subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a planning function that delivers high-quality project outcomes.
- Drive innovation and continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency.
- Mentor and coach a team, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Shape and implement the strategic vision for the planning department.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring effective project delivery.
- Balance hands-on project involvement with high-level delegation as required.
- Travel where necessary to collaborate with clients and internal teams.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Proven track record of driving innovation to create measurable improvements.
- Experience in leading large/ global teams at a department level.
- Strong ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Passion for developing people and helping them achieve their full potential.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- 10+ years’ experience in engineering and construction project delivery.
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 or Asta and advanced Excel skills.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Strong data-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Bonus: Coding skills are advantageous but not essential.
