Programme Funding Manager

Merrifield Consultants are pleased to be the recruitment partner for Mildmay Hospital to find their new Programme Funding Manager who will focus on securing funding for both Mildmay's international projects and the essential services provided by Mildmay Hospital in the UK. This person will lead on the income for their new, exciting and ambitious international projects, meaning that they will need to have the maturity and experience to work on a programme from its foundations.

For nearly 40 years, Mildmay has specialised in caring for individuals living with HIV in the UK and overseas, and more recently, people who are homeless and in need of clinical care. Their mission is to transform and empower lives through the delivery of quality health services, treatment, and care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and develop projects that align with fundraising objectives.
2. Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective grant-making bodies, ensuring timely and methodical cultivation.
3. Lead on drafting well-researched, compelling funding proposals, in line with the overall fundraising strategy.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors.
5. Ensure consistent and high-quality stewardship through regular updates, recognition of funders through publications, online platforms, and events.
6. Support senior leadership and volunteers with their fundraising efforts, including helping them leverage personal and professional networks.

Person Specification

1. Proven experience in fundraising, with a focus on securing grants from charitable trusts and foundations.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling proposals and build strong relationships.
3. Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities and tailor proposals.
4. Demonstrable project management skills, with experience of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
5. Knowledge of international development and healthcare, particularly HIV and homeless health is preferred.
