Job summary
The Amazon Security Platform Engineering team builds tools and services for the monitoring and response to malicious activity on the Amazon internal network. We collect data from all parts of Amazon's worldwide, service-oriented infrastructure.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is excited about designing and building solutions to solve challenging problems for mission critical systems that protect Amazon and our customer data. In Amazon Security our challenges are broad and deep -- we build flexible, secure, scalable, high-performance and robust tools and services. You will help implement, operate, and improve current services as well as build new features to improve the customer experience and make it easier/faster/cheaper for the customer to get what they need.
In Amazon, we obsess over our customers, and their trust is our first priority. Trust is earned by building a highly respected security service to tackle new challenges at a large scale. In this role, you will deliver high quality, scalable logging solutions to support Petabytes of data deployed around the world. You will collaborate with product owners and customers to deliver the best features, using resources and technologies efficiently. You will also help to engage other teams to onboard their services for data ingestion into the platform, aide in the tooling for analysis of the data, as well as transforming the data when needed to make it useful. You are detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities. The successful candidate is passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions and has experience working within a high-performance team.
On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.
Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.

The Amazon Security Platform Engineering team is seeking an innovative, high-energy, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer to build critical security systems at scale.
We value performance, simplicity, and scalability in our designs. In your day-to-day work you will focus on the development of solutions to collect and process security logs from a wide range of internal and third party systems.
A day in the life:
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Hands-on experience building multi-cloud solutions.
