Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) M25 London Orbital Motorway Project. This role can be based at our Leatherhead, South Mimms, or Dartford office locations.

CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis, and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25. The M25 is Europe’s busiest motorway, requiring careful planning and efficient management to deliver over £100m of annual infrastructure investment annually, alongside planned and reactive maintenance activities.

If you’re pursuing or developing a career in highways, working on the M25 offers unparalleled challenges and opportunities unmatched by any other project.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the measurement and valuation of works, reconciling these to project costs. You will aim to minimise project costs while maximising value for money, ensuring standards and quality are maintained.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ordering and systematically checking information.
  • Maximising digital opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Preparing Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules, and analysing tender documents.
  • Conducting audits to ensure costs align with subcontract agreements.
  • Critically appraising, estimating, and negotiating with third parties.
  • Reviewing complex contract programmes such as Time-Location and assisting with delay and disruption programmes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project performance, including main and subcontractor accounts.
  • Managing commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders.
  • Providing contract administration, including issuing notices and certificates.
  • Advising on procurement routes and tender strategies.
  • Preparing and maintaining procurement programmes and tender enquiries.
  • Managing change in line with contract conditions.
  • Preparing cost value reconciliations and earned value management reports.
  • Analysing rates and prices, assessing variations, and preparing claims when required.
  • Preparing forecasts of outturn cost and value.
Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, including managing a team of commercial staff.
  • A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline with relevant experience.
  • Membership of RICS, ICES, or a similar professional body (or working towards this qualification).
  • The ability to mentor and guide others on their journey to professional Chartered Membership.
