Pentest People is a UK-based security consultancy specialising in providing Penetration Testing as a Service to all its clients. Our innovative approach to security testing merges the benefits of consultant-led penetration testing with ongoing vulnerability assurance through our advanced SecurePortal. This provides clients with a continuous, living threat management system throughout the duration of the contract, rather than a single point-in-time assessment.

We’re expanding our Development team and looking for a Junior Software & Systems Engineer. This role offers hands-on experience in backend development, cloud-based SaaS applications, and technical support within a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain scalable SaaS applications, APIs, and backend services using Python and PHP.
• Enhance and support our SecureGateway infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
• Provide technical support, diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and system issues for customers and internal teams.
• Assist with IT support tasks, including device setup, networking, and software installations.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner and DevOps Engineer to deliver new features and improvements.
• Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of logging and monitoring tools.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand technical requirements and propose solutions.

About you:

• Some experience with Python and PHP (gained through personal projects, coursework, or internships).
• Familiarity with Linux-based environments.
• Basic understanding of web technologies and RESTful API design.
• Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Problem-solving mindset with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to a high-performing team.
• Good communication skills, particularly when working with non-technical stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role that requires regular office attendance. Candidates must be based in the UK and have the right to work, as we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.
