Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Specialist Chemist is responsible for performing, documenting and reporting various studies, investigations, methods used for improvements of Eurofins Chemtest service offerings and quality of test results.

Manage allocated tasks and methods, maintain assigned laboratory equipment in working order in line with laboratory SOPs and Quality Management System compliant to ISO 17025. Using attention to detail with critical thinking produce reliable and accurate method validation data.

Support the laboratory mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing education, and quality improvement.

Assist with QMS and SOP improvements and effectively communicate any observed deviations and non-compliances.

Duties:

  • Contribute to development, compilation and presentation of method validation packages in line with accreditation requirements.
  • Review and, where necessary, provide detailed plans to update methods within the inorganic department to reflect best practice.
  • Support inorganics department in areas requiring advanced expertise in analytical chemistry.
  • Research and develop any new and diverse inorganic analytical techniques as required by the client and business.
  • Investigate and conduct non routine methodology and data generation as required by client and business.
  • Assist in investigations, review and presentation of resource developments that would improve analytical methodology.
  • Assist quality team with scheduled audits.
  • Develop and implement business improvement ideas, across all areas of the organics lab, which will enhance instrument availability, reduce the amount of re-work and the number of customer queries, and improve the quality of our analytical capabilities, and the service our clients receive.
  • Support the sales and marketing team on technical matters, and assist wherever possible in winning new clients, and smooth onboarding.
  • Assist in the future planning for the organics lab, including capacity assessments, choice of new instruments, the purchasing of consumables, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Technical Team with the implementation of the Quality management System (QMS) and supporting procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify and communicate apparent deviations, issues, non-compliances with laboratory quality and test procedures
  • Comply with quality control procedures to assist with improvements with laboratory practices
  • Raise and perform effective non-conformance investigations in a timely manner including but not limited to equipment and QC failures, customer complaints.
  • Follow safety standards and protocols at all times in regard to safe handling of samples, standards, chemicals and wear proper protective personal equipment. Ensure other team members work in a safe manner
  • Ensure that the laboratory areas and work surfaces are free from clutter and any spillages on the bench, floor and especially the instruments are immediately cleaned up
  • Assist others in the performance of their duties in the areas of expertise, if and when assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality as detailed in Eurofins Chemtest QMS.
  • Quality Management System & ISO 17025, Health and Safety & ISO14001 requirements of your role, and perform any other reasonable duties as required by the Eurofins Chemtest Business.
