Job description

The role as Fraud Analyst was created to deliver against our strategic objectives and to comply with regulatory expectations to adopt and enforce the highest Financial Crime and Sanctions compliance and behavioural standards across Euroclear UK & International.

The role holder is reporting to the Head of Screening and Monitoring and will be responsible for identifying and assessing potential Fraud risks by providing an assessment as part of the Screening and monitoring process and journey. As a member of the team, your role will also include ensuring that Euroclear’s admission and monitoring criteria across various relationships, including clients, issuers and, in some cases, third-party providers, are fully adhered to. This will often involve liaising closely with the 1st line Financial Crime Managers as well as 2nd line Legal and Compliance teams on matters involving all aspects of KYC, Sanction & Adverse Media Screening and Transaction Monitoring.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review and manage fraud referrals in accordance with agreed SLAs and procedures.
  2. Review transactions for fraudulent activity and compromised accounts; investigate reports of suspected fraudulent activity.
  3. Experience in fraud prevention, and practical knowledge of fraud systems, e.g., Hunter, CIFAS.
  4. Monitor real-time queues and identify high-risk transactions.
  5. Observe transactions to identify fraudulent activity such as account takeover, friendly fraud, 1st and 3rd Party Fraud, and other risks.
  6. Document and analyze findings of fraud trends to report to the Head of Screening & Monitoring.
  7. Identify ways to improve internal or external processes to mitigate fraud.
  8. Identify bad actor behaviours to implement systems or processes to alert/stop activity.
  9. Liaise with Legal, 2nd Line FC Compliance, and other business stakeholders on financial crime-related matters in support of the Financial Crime Operations Team.
  10. Support the Head of Screening & Monitoring to help develop and embed a robust and thorough Fraud Framework.
  11. Complete assigned work in a timely and accurate manner and provide support to and carry out work as directed by the Head of Screening & Monitoring and Financial Crime Operations.
  12. Complete appropriate levels of monitoring based on risk profiles.
  13. Engage with Compliance, Tax, and other departments as necessary to ensure that all risk aspects are adequately assessed by the appropriate teams.
  14. Deliver output as determined by the KPIs set by Senior Management.
  15. Ensure the relevant screening & monitoring tools are kept updated in a timely manner.
  16. Adhere to all governance and approval requirements.
  17. Ensure clear and concise documentation and records.
  18. Provide a helpful and proactive response to enquiries, ensuring all responses are provided accurately and in a timely manner, demonstrating knowledge of the nature and background of the enquiry.
  19. Perform controls-related tasks and ensure evidence is obtained and demonstrated for such tasks where applicable.
  20. Identify areas of operational risk, highlighting these areas to senior management and suggesting methods to reduce the risk exposure.
  21. Review existing controls and operating procedures to ensure processes are fit for purpose and to the highest standard.

Your profile:

  1. Demonstrable experience of working with anti-financial crime processes at a regulated firm (FCA/BofE etc.), ideally with a custodian, Registrar, stockbroker, or similar focus.
  2. Understanding of the UK legislative and regulatory environment pertaining to Fraud Management, anti-money laundering, and counter-terrorist financing.
  3. Experience of CSD operating models advantageous but not essential.
  4. Analytical Skills - ability to visualize, articulate, and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems by making logical decisions given the available information.
  5. Strong communication skills, with an eye for detail, ability to proactively engage with others in a professional manner, able to share information and work as a team, with an ability to articulate clearly verbally and via written communications.
  6. Experience of working to tight deadlines.
  7. Demonstrates sound judgement and makes confident and reasoned arguments.
