Supporting a Shropshire School in recruiting a Design Technology teacher to start after half term!

Tara are delighted to be working with a Shropshire school and supporting them in their search for a new Design Technology Teacher to start as soon as possible.

Based in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury, the Comprehensive school is very much a school of choice providing education to KS3 and KS4 pupils.

Within its state-of-the-art building, the school has high expectations, keen to provide an ambitious future for all students. It is often commented on the family and friendly atmosphere within the school.

About the role:

The successful candidates will inspire students through creative and practical design challenges while fostering their problem-solving, technical, and critical thinking skills. The Design Technology Teacher will teach students how to approach design projects, use materials and tools safely, and apply principles of engineering, product design, and sustainable practices.

Subject: Design Technology (Resistant Materials preferable)

Timetable: Part Time

Start: February 2025

Duration: Long term, potential for permanent role for the right candidate.

Key stage: KS3/KS4

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Education, or a related field (PGCE or QTS preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in teaching Design Technology to KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants and other support staff.
