Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

A key client of Westwood is on the lookout for a highly experienced Java Software Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative engineering team focusing on the development of state-of-the-art AI products.

This role is ideal for a candidate with deep expertise in java-based backend development, experience with architectural design, and distributed AI/ML systems.

You will be a key technical leader, with a vast range of responsibilities including designing, implementing, and optimizing high-performance AI-driven solutions.

Please note that whilst this is a fully remote position, you must have the right to work in Europe.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the design and development of complex AI and ML powered applications using Java 11+ and modern frameworks.
2. Architect and implement scalable and fault-tolerant AI services.
3. Work closely with data scientists and ML engineers for integration purposes.
4. Ensure your code is quality, secure, and maintainable.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
6. Mentor and guide mid-level engineers.
7. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies.

Requirements

1. 10+ years of hands-on experience with Java.
2. Experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and microservices.
3. Proficiency in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
4. Knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and JVM optimization.
5. Experience integrating machine learning models into production environments.
6. Familiarity with big data technologies.
