Job Title: Business Development Manager - Fire, Smoke & Acoustic Seals

Industry Sector: Firedoors, Seals, Fire, Smoke, Acoustic, Fire Safety, Fire Seals, Doors, Technical Sales, Sales Manager, Fire Resistant Glass, Glazing, Timber, Architectural Glass, Joinery, Doors, Partitions, Insulated Glazing, Door Manufacturers, Fire Door Manufacturers, Joinery Contractors, Interior Fit-Out Contractors, Architects, Main Contractors, Developers

Area to be covered: Midlands & North (occasional visit to the South)

Remuneration: £40,000-£45,000 + commission circa £20,000

The role of the Business Development Manager - Fire, Smoke & Acoustic Seals will involve:

  1. Field sales position selling a manufactured range of fire, smoke & acoustic seals for doors.
  2. Dealing with both new build and refurbishment projects.
  3. Majority of your time will be spent selling to door manufacturers, fabricators, joinery contractors, fire door manufacturers, interior fit-out contractors, glass processors, and distributors.
  4. Remaining smaller portion of your time will be spent generating specifications with architects, large interior fit-out contractors, and specifiers.
  5. Taking over a territory currently achieving around £1m turnover per annum.
  6. Dealing with a wide range of order values from £5 - £500k.
  7. Majority of your time will be spent generating new business.

The ideal applicant will be:

  1. Must have field sales experience in a related industry such as fire rated systems, fire doors, fire glass, glazing, windows, doors, timber, and joinery.
  2. Ideally have technical understanding and experience in the glass, timber, fire door, and joinery market.
  3. Ideally have experience of generating specifications.
  4. Ideally have dealt with joinery contractors, fire door manufacturers, interior fit-out contractors, and glass processors (not essential).
  5. Team player yet able to work autonomously.
  6. Customer service oriented, technical, and sociable personality.
  7. Comfortable with entertaining clients.
