As the Transportation Routing Manager, you will oversee the efficient, cost-effective, and timely movement through our First & Last mile operation; proactively addressing and overcoming live obstacles disrupting routing efficiencies. Additionally, this role offers global visibility, allowing you to collaborate cross-functionally and truly make a significant impact on our strategic projects and initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team of Routing specialists/Supervisors covering a portfolio of depots (circa 10 UK & Ireland based depots) in the execution of daily outbound resource plans.
  • Own the First & Last Mile transportation cost per PO and use data to drive continuous improvement in core business outcomes such as Planned Stops per Route, Transportation Efficiency (Utilization), In-Window %, Recharge and Flex routing, by leading feedback sessions with all the sites.
  • Review and propose optimum network design for first mile collections and last mile delivery to balance cost and speed for the EU market.
  • Assess impact of network changes / service launches on the cost and complexity of routing. Be a thought partner to the commercial team in pricing services based on these assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team to optimize the in-window delivery performance within the network.
  • Plan the weekly last mile capacities needed at the sites by modeling SPR as well as make decisions on when to secure higher capacities and when to shut down operations based on the seasonal trends of jump and drop in order volume.
  • Design mechanism to detect, monitor, respond to and escalate network outages.
  • Manage change management such as roll out of new RFPs by collaborating with the sites and other relevant teams such as carrier management.
  • Be a thought partner as an SME from the network design side, in cross functional projects, such as new service launches.
  • Effectively mentor the team, guiding and shaping individual and team careers, as well as building competent teams and foster a team culture of support and entrepreneurial outlook.

What you will need:

  • Proven experience as a people manager within an operational function, essentially within transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or a supply chain environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of effective route planning and cost management across the UK market; any additional European or North American knowledge would be a plus.
  • Display a people focused approach to nurturing, coaching and developing individuals, cultivating a positive environment for delivering consistent high team performance.
  • Capability to visualize complex data, synthesizing insights from statistical analysis, translating into clear and digestible outcomes for varied audiences for positively driving change.
  • Proficient in database queries, creating pivots in Google Sheets, and building charts using Looker Studio. Familiarity with tools such as GBQ, SQL, Python and R is advantageous.
  • Effective project management skills, someone who can manage processes efficiently by scoping logical steps from ideation to project completion, organizing data / materials for broad understanding, synthesizing stakeholder feedback, ensuring project interim steps are on time, and delivering results on time with high quality.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage and repeatedly deliver multiple competing priorities within tight deadlines.

If you're seeking a role that offers the excitement of real-time problem-solving, requiring quick adaptability and strong cross-functional teamwork, whilst providing a platform to actively make an impact on global strategic projects and initiatives, this could be the next career adventure for you.
