As Marketing and Communications Assistant you will be part of a small, dedicated team that is helping companies and communities tackle extreme Climate Change, sustainably. Ideally we are looking for someone with extensive Marketing & Communications experience that is looking to support a non-profit and gain experience of working in Sustainable Tourism industry with a focus on Climate Change.

You will be involved in our main areas of activity including content creation, social media management, implementing and assisting with communications strategies, digital marketing and much more!

You will be passionate about Climate resilience and the human and wildlife responses. You will love working in the online world and enjoy digital content development.

If you want to pursue a career, or gain experience, in Sustainable Tourism or the wider world of Sustainability then this will give you valuable experience.

The Role

SUN x Malta is a legacy to Maurice Strong, Climate & Sustainability activist half a century ago. It is an EU NGO, supported by Malta’s Ministry of Tourism, with Malta Tourism Authority, and is advancing a Climate Friendly Travel culture - based on application of SDG 2030 and Paris 1.5 by Tourism Companies, Communities and Consumers.

Its core programmes are a Registry of CFT Ambitions, a Diploma and training course that bring together youth and tourism stakeholders to deliver Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) company and destination transformation in line with our CFT Decade Strategy.

We have a vacancy for a Marketing and Communications Assistant beginning immediately. This is an opportunity to be involved in the core operations of SUN x as the right candidate will work with our Communications Manager on activities such as content and social media management, copywriting, events, and much more.

You will be part of a small team helping to promote our brand across all fronts.

Job Description

Your focus will be to support the marketing and the communications activities of SUNx Malta. This will involve working with our Communications Manager to build our quarterly bulletin eXist as well as content and copy for social media channels. You will also work on building and fostering media relations.

You will help to promote events such as our Strong Earth Youth Summit, Strong Earth Awards, our annual report and Think Tank, and provide support to our Registry, Climate Champions, and Education programmes as needed.

This is a flexible home-based position requiring a minimum of 10-hours/week (Mon-Fri).

Academic Experience

Degree (or relevant experience) in Marketing, Communications, Media, Public Relations, Design, Filmmaking or similar and ideally post-graduate studies in Sustainable Tourism, Climate Change, Sustainable Development or similar.

Prior Experience

It would be valuable to have:

• Strong written and spoken English. Additional languages an asset.
• Digital marketing, communications, and social media experience.
• A good networker, team player, and passionate about Climate Friendly Travel.
• Goals / deadline oriented.
