NDT TRAINEE TECHNICIAN

This is a Full-Time, Temporary – Permanent job.

We are recruiting for an NDT Trainee Technician for a market-leading organisation based in Central Birmingham. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who has a basic level of knowledge or experience of NDT testing, who is looking to progress or further develop their career.

This role would be best suited to someone who is academically minded and willing to obtain their accreditation in this specialised field.

You’ll contribute to a dynamic team, ensuring the integrity and quality of materials and parts through advanced Non-Destructive Testing techniques. You’ll play a key part in maintaining safety and compliance by inspecting and testing parts and materials.

Daily Duties

  • Site / Laboratory based role
  • Setting up, calibrating, and maintaining NDT equipment
  • Conduct Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) on parts and materials
  • Utilising techniques such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
  • Visual Testing (VT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Working in line with relevant standards and company procedures
  • Interpreting and evaluating test results against specified acceptance standards
  • Producing clear, accurate, and concise test reports
  • Demonstrating professionalism and integrity in all aspects of the role
  • Demonstrating a strong attention to detail
  • Working both independently and as part of a team

Hours of Work

Monday-Thursday: 8am-4:45pm
Friday: 8am-1:00pm

Rate of Pay

Starting from £12.21 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Experience Required

  • Ideally some previous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience
  • Penetrant and magnetic flaw detection
  • Magnetic particle inspection
  • UV and fluorescent light/ink testing techniques
  • Quality and Visual Testing (VT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Understanding of NDT techniques
  • Ability to produce quality documentation and reports of your findings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
