Job description

Our client is a well-established and successful food manufacturer. They are looking for an experienced Quality professional to join them as the Quality Assurance Manager. As a Quality Assurance Manager, you would be responsible for all food safety and quality aspects within your specific department. You will contribute to ensuring the department is producing fantastic products that meet all quality and safety standards. All products are produced through a controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.


Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute as a member of the area Local Committee and factory Quality Assurance team. Work with the team to create and maintain compliance in hygiene, food safety, and quality.
  2. Deliver quality objectives such as complaints reduction, foreign body reduction, and First Time Right (FTR) improvements.
  3. Ensure GMP is maintained at the required standard for the area.
  4. Support the Continuous Excellence programme in the quest for zero defects.
  5. Take a lead on delivering quality within the area to reduce losses.
  6. Carry out continuous improvement activities using everyday problem solving.
  7. Promote quality awareness and the commitment to quality across the area.
  8. Ensure the successful management of quality incidents by participating in root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are closed out.
  9. Manage non-routine product release and stock status.
  10. Carry out consumer complaint investigations to provide feedback and identify improvement actions.
  11. Review, update, and communicate quality systems including HACCP and QMS.
  12. Support area readiness for internal and external audits (carrying out internal audits as required).
  13. Perform corrective action follow-up for audit non-conformities.

Applicant Requirements:

  1. A degree or equivalent in a Food Science / Engineering / Quality related subject.
  2. Demonstrable experience in quality roles working in FMCG (Food or Drink) Factory environments.
  3. Able to demonstrate working in large teams, large number of stakeholders under pressure.
  4. Experience in successfully implementing quality assurance programmes, influencing at all levels within the factory.
  5. Experience of training, coaching, and challenging people in reaching targets.
  6. Participating or leading improvement projects delivering tangible quality improvements.
  7. Ability to establish relationships at all levels both externally and internally.
  8. Knowledge of working with Quality Management Systems and food safety.
  9. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, products, and their norms.
  10. Understanding of auditing and verification.

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience, plus additional company benefits and potential bonus.
