NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, fulltime post for 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday.

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Podiatry Service is excited to an opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist to join our dynamic Foot Protection Team. These roles provide a chance to work within a specialist multidisciplinary service, delivering high quality care to patients with high risk foot conditions, including diabetes and vascular related complications.

Our Foot Protection Service is made up of 4 teams based on their location within the health board. We will be recruiting to the following team: East locality (incorporating the east end and north of Glasgow).

About the Role

As a Specialist Podiatrist in the Foot Protection Service, you will:

  • Provide high quality podiatric care to patients with complex foot conditions, focusing on wound care, vascular assessment, offloading and infection management.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including diabetes, vascular, orthopaedics, infectious diseases and other healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver patient centred care, promoting education and self-management strategies to reduce the risk of foot complications.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting and mentoring the development of Students and other Podiatrists in high risk foot care.

About You

The Successful candidate will have the following:

  • BSc (Hons) Podiatry (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience of wound care, pressure relief, and infection control.
  • POM-S or ‘Non-Medical Prescribing’ qualification is desirable, however support available to those wishing to gain these qualifications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A commitment to professional development and evidence based practice.
