Job description

Social Worker - Family Support & Safeguarding

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Family Support & Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Dagenham.

The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £48,511 per annum.

  1. To have a caseload of complex family proceedings and children deemed to be at high risk of significant harm. The senior worker will be expected to demonstrate the ability to record to a high standard capturing the voice of the child, show evidence of analysis and reflection throughout.
  2. To act as lead practice educator for the social work unit by providing support and advice and offer shadowing opportunities to Student Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers subject to Assessed and Supported Year in Employment and family support practitioners.
  3. To share specialist social work knowledge and research across the social work unit.
  4. Working within the London Child Protection procedures to undertake key work responsibilities for children subject to a child protection plan.
  5. In conjunction with the Practice Managers and Senior Team Manager, to maintain performance standards in line with Division expectation and national guidance, and act alert Practice Managers of any concerns in relation to staff performance.
  6. Undertake assigned projects, ensuring that agreed outcomes are delivered on time, within budget and to the expected standard.
  7. Undertake staff management and supervisory responsibilities, including the recording of absences, appraisal, recruitment, development, welfare, discipline, deployment, motivation, etc.
  8. Foster teamwork involvement with staff to increase performance. Create an environment for ideas and innovations to be explored and work practices challenged. Encourage staff to meet their full potential.
  9. Ensure compliance with and actively promote the Council's Equalities and Diversity policies and strategies.
  10. Take responsibility for continuing self-development and participate in training and development activities.

Requirements of this Social Worker job:

  1. A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  2. Understanding of relevant legislation.
  3. Social Work England registered.
