Finance Manager
Morgan Hunt are working with a College based in Essex who are looking at recruiting a Finance Manager. This is a permanent role paying up to £55k.
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Manager:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Provide comprehensive and professional financial accounting services.
- Ensure the integrity of financial accounts and prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare final accounts and oversee financial ledger integrity.
- Monitor and manage cash flow projections to maintain financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, funding requirements, and internal policies.
- Implement audit and risk recommendations and act as the lead contact during the Annual Accounts audit.
- Prepare statutory group and subsidiary annual accounts and CFFR regulatory models.
- Produce monthly trial balances and balance sheets, ensuring accuracy of financial records.
- Maintain the Strategic Risk Register and Capital Plan.
- Analyse, review, and reconcile income and expenditure variances, providing proactive recommendations for efficiency improvements.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, VAT reporting, and funding requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial statements and support the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Develop and maintain financial control systems to prevent errors and fraud.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Provide leadership and line management for finance team members.
- Offer financial advice to both finance and non-financial managers regarding complex financial matters.
- Support budget managers with financial insights and assist in the preparation of UK VAT returns.
- Work collaboratively to improve financial systems, efficiency, and reporting mechanisms.
Previous Skills and Experience of the Finance Manager:
- Must have Further or Higher Education experience OR audit experience having audited in the education sector.
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA, ICA) with significant experience in a similar role.
- Experience using Excel to analyse complex data and produce financial statements.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounts, management reporting, and budget support.
- Proven ability to explain financial information to non-financial managers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior managers.
- Commitment to upholding ethical financial standards and regulatory compliance.
- The successful candidate must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to undergo processing.
