We are advertising this Pest Control Technician role on behalf of our client ‘City Facilities Management’. City FM was established in 1985 and has grown to become one of the world’s largest privately held, integrated FM companies.
Job Purpose:
The Pest Control Technician is to provide complete pest control services (including proofing) to our client to control all pest species covered under our contract and identify any environmental conditions conducive to pest activity.
This involves visiting sites at agreed intervals, conducting detailed inspections in a safe and professional manner, and effectively communicating observations verbally and in writing via reports.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Attend training courses as necessary to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
- Carry out onsite practical training & awareness training with CITY colleagues.
- Take ownership of all pest-related issues to resolve ongoing problems.
- Respond promptly to genuine emergency call-outs from the Helpdesk.
- Support the achievement of company KPI delivery.
- Formulate detailed reports on stores, escalating issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify infestation non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and advise the Area Manager with recommendations.
- Prioritize recommendations to stores and achieve agreed timescales to proactively defend against pest activity.
- Make recommendations to the National Pest Control Operations Manager and Field Support Supervisor when pest proofing works are non-repairable.
- Carry out proofing works and installations within technical competence in accordance with specifications.
- Advise and document pest activity and its potential impact on store operations.
- Provide written reports detailing pest activity detected and any environmental conditions that may adversely affect the store.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment in good working condition and order preparations and spares as per procedures.
- Comply with reasonable requests or instructions from the company.
- Provide flexibility to service when support from other engineering disciplines is required.
- Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
- Use pesticides safely as specified under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
- Work to support lowest cost operating ethos and ensure optimum energy efficiency.
- Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with City and customer colleagues.
- Work with company and customer colleagues to maintain laid-down standards of quality at all times.
Skills / Background / Qualifications:
- At least 12 months experience as a pest control technician.
- Royal Society of Health Cert in Pest Control or British Pest Control Association Diploma’s Part 1 and 2 is required.
- Bird proofing work is desirable.
- Fumigation services experience is desirable.
- General building/fabrication skills are desirable.
- Experience in pest control environment is essential.
- Experience in retail, leisure, or FM sector is desirable.
- Good PC literacy.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Full driving licence.
- Helpful/professional manner.
- Self-motivated.
- A hands-on, can-do, and flexible approach to work is essential.
- Positive attitude and commitment to outstanding customer service.
