Senior Transport Planner - Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of routes for a diverse fleet, covering both general haulage and pallet network operations.
- Support and mentor junior planners, ensuring best practices are followed and high standards are maintained.
- Collaborate closely with the Transport Ops Manager to optimise fleet utilisation, identify areas for operational improvement, and implement strategic planning initiatives.
- Manage complex planning requirements, including multi-drop routes, time-sensitive deliveries, and special requirements for high-profile clients.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers, resolving any transport-related issues or concerns in a professional manner.
- Ensure full compliance with driver hours, working time regulations, and all legal requirements, assisting in audits and compliance checks as needed.
- Monitor live operations to handle any disruptions or delays, implementing contingency plans and adjusting routes where necessary.
- Analyse performance data, prepare regular transport reports, and provide insights to support operational decision-making.
- Work closely with drivers to communicate schedules, address any on-road issues, and ensure that they have the resources and support needed to complete their routes efficiently.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance route planning efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall service levels.
Senior Transport Planner - Job Requirements
- Proven experience in transport planning within the general haulage and/or pallet network sectors, preferably in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a planning team.
- Extensive knowledge of UK road networks and geographical locations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using transport management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of compliance, health & safety regulations, and transport legislation.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Senior Transport Planner - Job Remunerations
£35,000 - £40,000
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
