Job overview

The post-holder will participate in the effective and safe running of the MRI department at Newham University Hospital site. The post-holder will be able to perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans and assist in the delivery of clinical trials and performing MRI research scans.

The post-holder will work closely with radiographers, students, and clinical staff of all grades in the safe, prompt, and effective imaging of inpatients and outpatients.

The post-holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same-day scanning. They will also be expected to check conditional devices, book sedated patients, and liaise with radiologists and other clinicians to actively unblock barriers to scanning. The post-holder will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience and will be enabled to deal with and diffuse potential complaints to the patient and carers’ satisfaction.

The post-holder will maintain an up-to-date level of knowledge and skills to enable them to maintain a highly professional and technical standard of clinical work. This knowledge will be disseminated through formal and informal CPD practice to ensure all staff produce a high quality of radiography.

Qualifications
  • Current and up-to-date state registration through HCPC or other regulatory body
  • Post graduate cert or higher in MR Imaging
  • IV Cannulation training or be willing to complete the IV cannulation training.
Experience
  • Substantial experience in MRI imaging
  • NHS Experience
  • Acute/emergency MR imaging
  • Undertaking appraisal practices and peer review audits
  • Writing protocols and policies
  • Experience in undertaking recruitment drives
Knowledge
  • An up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging MRI scanning techniques and relevant topics / professional issues.
  • Knowledge of current policies and legislation affecting service delivery
