Job description

Do you love following whats happening in the world as events unfold and issues of the day get debated? Are you passionate about seeking the truth, holding those in positions of power to account and giving a voice to the voiceless?

United Christian Broadcasters wants to provide a 12-month opportunity to an individual who is excited, keen and committed to contributing to the work of a team that enthusiastically covers national and international news and current affairs.

Supported by experienced Christian broadcast journalists and producers, your role will include pitching creative and original content ideas, researching, arranging radio interviews, and writing for radio/online/social media. You will be based full-time at the UCB Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent (Postcode ST4 8RY).

About You & How To Apply

You will need to be a committed Christian, with your own personal transport to get to/from the UCB Broadcast Centre, and you must live within reasonable commuting distance.

Your application will only be considered if you can tick these boxes, you:

  1. have emailed an MP3 audio recording of you pitching an original news and current affairs idea appropriate for UCB's audience (maximum duration 3 minutes)
  2. are a committed Christian who's connected to a church
  3. can demonstrate genuine knowledge and understanding of news and current affairs
  4. are able to work Monday to Friday (flexibility of hours will be required)
  5. have provided detailed information about yourself on the application form to help the selection panel decide whether you should be shortlisted for an interview

The final closing date for applications will be Thursday 31st October 2024 (midday). No late applications will be accepted.

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview at the UCB Broadcast Centre in Stoke-on-Trent on the morning of Monday 11th November 2024.

It is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to take up this full-time staff job from November or sooner, if possible.
