Software Development Manager, Amazon Now (Project Tez)

We are from India Grocery and Everyday Essentials team. We are working on a confidential grounds-up initiative for an upcoming and fast-growing e-commerce space in India. We are developing a completely brand new e-commerce customer experience, last mile and supply chain systems, powered by the latest backend and frontend technologies. Our product will span across the entire lifecycle of e-commerce starting from supply chain to shopping journey, order fulfillment and delivery, and post-order experience.

Key job responsibilities

1. Own building Amazon first ground-up tech capabilities and products.
2. You will own building technology that innovates for the fast-growing e-commerce domain in India and beyond.
3. To enable this business initiative, you will lead the definition and execution of strategic projects aimed at building best-in-class experience for customer and delivery experience.
4. You will have end-to-end ownership of cross-functional projects, including product definition, roadmap/resource planning, and project execution.
5. You will work closely with product, business, category, and marketing leadership, including executive leadership at Amazon, to define the product and build vision for the program.
6. At the heart of this role is technology innovation. You will be hands-on in driving the delivery of critical technical initiatives, right from building the vision, requirements definition, designing solutions with Amazon first innovation in combination with leveraging Amazon’s global technology solutions and delivering high-quality scalable tech capabilities.
7. As a leader, you will deliver through exceptional engineers and work closely with technical program managers, principal engineers while hiring and developing a world-class engineering team.

The team is made of Amazon veterans and is working on first-time in Amazon initiatives which will scale beyond India and grocery. Minimum Qualifications

1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
2. 7+ years of engineering experience.
3. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
4. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
5. Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
6. Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
