Court of Protection Solicitor/Re-train opportunity

We are seeking a Solicitor or Legal Executive with 2+ years of post-qualification experience who has a genuine interest in Court of Protection work and is keen to join an established and thriving team. For the right candidate with a strong interest in Court of Protection law, we would consider supporting a transition into this area.

This role requires a combination of legal expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and a compassionate approach to client care. You will play a key role in supporting clients through complex legal processes and ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and empathy.

Experience/Attributes required:

  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored support.
  • Clear and effective communication with clients, team members, and various professionals.
  • Ability to convey complex legal information in an understandable manner.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple tasks efficiently and accurately, such as preparing applications, controlling budgets, and supervising tax affairs.
  • High level of accuracy in preparing legal documents and applications, ensuring all details are meticulously handled.
  • Practical approach to resolving issues and finding solutions for clients' needs.
  • Ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Experience in networking and building professional relationships.
  • Genuine empathy for clients, understanding their situations, and providing compassionate support.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Proven understanding of Court of Protection work, including statutory Wills, deputyships, and private trust work.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal procedures and regulations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and handle a diverse range of tasks.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively under pressure.
  • While not essential, experience in a Clinical Negligence or catastrophic claims environment would be advantageous, providing valuable insights into client needs and case management.

Work type:

  • Assisting the team with managing high-value deputyships and private trust cases, ensuring clients' best interests are always prioritised.
  • Preparing and submitting various types of applications to the Court of Protection.
  • Assisting in the purchase of properties and adapting them to meet the specific needs of clients, coordinating with surveyors, architects, and other specialists.
  • Managing clients’ budgets and monitoring investments.
