Base pay range
£80,000 k pa - £100,000 k pa, plus an annual discretionary bonus, pension, healthcare and other related benefits.
The Role
Martis Search are representing a Mayfair based, but global Asset Management business to hire a permanent “Operational Due Diligence Associate.”
The ODD role is part of the Asset Manager’s tight-knit Investment Research team, which reports into the Chief Investment Officer and even involves some travel to meet clients. This role involves conducting end-to-end investment and responsible investment due diligence reviews of new Equity and Equity Long-Short Funds and their managers, as well as monitoring funds on the approved list.
The chosen incumbent must be of graduate calibre (2:1 minimum in a numerate based subject such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering etc) and must either be from an Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Family Office background with 2-5 years’ experience in “Operational Due Diligence” or “Risk Management.”
The company offers a hybrid mix of working-from-home and in-the-office.

- You will work as part of the research team and be responsible for conducting end-to-end operational due diligence (“ODD”) reviews of investment funds and their managers.
- You will also have the opportunity to develop our risk management and oversight capabilities.
- The role may involve travel to visit managers that are not based in the UK.
What you’ll be doing:
- Conducting initial and ongoing operational due diligence on various funds and their investment managers, including long-only, hedge fund, private equity, private credit, real estate, and cryptocurrency strategies.
- Carrying out detailed reviews of fund offering documents, policies and procedures, internal controls reports, audited financial statements, etc.
- Preparing detailed operational due diligence reports that are presented to Asset Manager’s Fund Selection Committee and/or Investment Committee.
- Keeping abreast of industry and regulatory changes affecting the fund management industry.
- Overseeing Asset Manager’s security database and assisting with trading queries, rebates, side-letter negotiations, etc.
- Participating in ad-hoc internal projects.
About you:
- Familiar with fund management industry and its investment processes.
- Understand and able to describe the fundamentals of a good ODD process and the risks it seeks to address for Asset Manager’s clients.
- Have a desire to learn a thorough and detail-oriented process covering a wide range of operational areas and the ability to propose improvements to the process.
- Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively, including with those outside of the research team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Able to apply critical thinking and ask the right questions in addition to having a proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
Your skills and experience:
- Experience working in or with the investment management industry.
- Prior experience in Operational Due Diligence ODD and/or Risk Management is beneficial.
- Experience independently leading meetings with investment managers.
- Having a relevant industry recognised qualification, or progress towards one (e.g. CFA, CAIA, ACA, IMC etc.)
