Job description

Production Operative
Pay Rate - £13.42- £15.43 per hour
Location - Almondsbury, BS32

Our client is a market leading manufacturer of innovative clay and concrete building products. We are currently recruiting for a Hand Packer - Production Operative to come and join the Specials Team at our Client site in Almondsbury, Bristol. The successful candidate will be switching between various production roles, including sorting and setting. This role will be physically demanding. The client we are working with are passionate about creating a diverse working environment and are proud to be an equal opportunities employer.

Hours of work:
- For Initial Training Period 8-12 weeks: 7.30am-4pm Mon-Thurs, 7.30am-3pm Friday
- Switching to: 5on/5off (5am to 5pm) days only - no nights
Location - Almondsbury, Bristol
Pay Rate - £13.42-£15.43 per hour
Reporting to - Specials Manager
Type of Contract - Temporary to permanent

Key responsibilities of a Production Operative:

  1. Manually moving wet clay on to stillages
  2. Handmaking formed blocks to make customers orders
  3. Constructing brick firing stacks, single stacks set onto a hearth (carefully selected stack of bricks)
  4. Hand sorting fired bricks into packs as per customer requirements
  5. Adhering to health & safety, quality and environmental systems
  6. Creating and maintaining the highest standards of 5S's housekeeping and environmental management

Skills and experience required as a Production Operative:

  1. Excellent timekeeping, attendance and flexibility
  2. Self-motivated
  3. Ability to also work alone or in a team
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. High degree of Health & Safety awareness
  6. Ability to learn to operate key manufacturing and mobile plant
  7. Willingness to undergo further training and development
  8. Driving License

Desirable skills and experience as a Production Operative:

  1. Experience of working in a continuous improvement environment
  2. A certified counterbalance FLT driver is advantageous
  3. A recognised up-skill
