We are looking to recruit 1 full time (37.5 hours) Permanent and 1 part time (28.5 hours) 12 month FTC, Delivery Suite Coordinators.

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to join our Homerton family as one of the Delivery Suite Coordinators.

The appointed candidate will work in partnership with other band 7 coordinators and matrons delivering a high standard of care that is evidence based and meets local and national guidelines.

They will work closely with obstetric colleagues and members of the maternity team delivering a high-quality service to meet the needs of women with complex needs.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge base, expertise and a passion for promoting an optimal birth experience within the complex care setting.

We are looking for someone who understands the role of managing a shift and can delegate and lead the demands of the wider maternity service.

***The post will include working 50% day and 50%-night duty***

Main duties of the job

  • To provide effective, dynamic and cohesive midwifery leadership and management to a team of midwives, working in the acute hospital setting.
  • To deliver robust evidence-based midwifery care and promote individualised women centred midwifery care in partnership with women and other stakeholders.
  • An integral part of the role will be the provision of clinical management and leadership in the absence of the clinical midwifery manager.
  • To act as an exemplary role model and effective and pivotal resource to midwifery and other staff.
  • To have competent and proficient IT knowledge and skills to aid effective communication throughout and management of the maternity unit.

  • Confident using EPR and K2/Badgernet
  • Ability to practice in all areas of midwifery in accordance with the NMC Midwives Code of Practice
  • Ability to exercise own initiative

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Teaching skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner

Qualifications

  • NMC Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of ongoing education
  • Leadership course

Knowledge

  • Confident with CTG interpretation
  • Able to escalate concerns and understands escalation process
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Knowledge of NMC Codes of Practice
  • Understanding of the demands and needs of women in a multi-racial environment
  • Knowledge of current research and relevance to practice
  • Knowledge of current professional issues, healthcare legislation and current research and relevance to practice
  • Awareness of the CNST requirements
  • Previous experience of working within a team and managing the team
  • Recent experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Knowledge of team bases care/caseloads

Experience

  • Extensive midwifery experience having worked in all variety of settings utilising midwifery skills
  • Experience coordinating the delivery suite on a shift
  • Experience of home births
  • Previous experience of working within a team
  • Recent experience in an acute hospital setting
