We are a small, well-established, dynamic, and forward-thinking cloud-based Accountancy Practice with offices based in Dorset and London. We have an exciting opportunity for a QBE Assistant Accountant to join us on a part-time, work-from-home basis.

Role Profile

The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to our Account Managers, ensuring the smooth running of client accounts and delivering high-quality financial services. You will be assisting in automated bookkeeping, the preparation of VAT returns, financial reports and supporting compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Bookkeeping and VAT Return completion in an automated environment using cloud software
  2. Assisting Account Managers in preparing annual accounts for small Ltd companies and their Directors
  3. Processing payroll and pension submissions where required
  4. Helping to prepare Management Accounts and other key financial reports
  5. Ensuring that financial data is accurately recorded and maintained in Xero, QBO, Freeagent and Dext
  6. Reconciling bank accounts, invoices, and financial transactions
  7. Supporting clients with bookkeeping queries and ensuring best practices are followed
  8. Liaising with clients to obtain necessary documentation and providing financial insights
  9. Assisting with ad-hoc financial administration as required

Person Specification

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and self-reliant. The successful candidate will have:

  1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Accountancy Practice (essential)
  2. Qualified by Experience (QBE) status
  3. Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and Dext (essential)
  4. Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and tax compliance
  5. Strong IT skills, including Excel and cloud-based accounting systems
  6. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  7. Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines
  8. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients
  9. The ability to work remotely and manage workloads effectively
