The Finance Officer position is a critical role in delivering quality services to members of the Credit Union. You will provide excellent member care through a range of duties, particularly with day-to-day responsibility for processing member transactions and reconciling member accounts.
The Finance Team comprises Finance, Credit Control, and Compliance.

The post holder is not responsible for the supervision of other staff.
Supervision Received
The postholder will be in regular contact with the Senior Finance Officer on a daily basis but will be expected to work on their own initiative and deal with day-to-day problems as they arise. The Finance Manager will also have supervisory oversight.
Decisions Made In the Course of the Job
Prioritising daily tasks within guidelines as agreed with the Finance Manager and/or Senior Finance Officer. Dealing tactfully with enquiries and advising members and suppliers as appropriate, referring complex queries to senior staff.
Contacts
Staff of support and servicing organisations e.g. bank, pay control and computer technical staff for regular and routine purposes. Staff of external suppliers and other creditors. Members, potential members, Representatives and Credit Union officers in servicing the Credit Union. Officials and staff of Credit Union organisations, e.g. other Credit Unions, CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, WOCCU.
Preferred Education / Qualifications
Experience Required
General office experience including operation of computer applications. Experience in dealing with people in person and over the telephone.
Complexity
The postholder needs to develop a comprehensive understanding of the workings of a Credit Union in order to deal effectively with the processing of members' transactions. An understanding of the FCA/PRA regulatory legislation. A good understanding of the legislation affecting Credit Union procedures (Training will be given on these aspects of the post).
Creativity
The postholder will be expected to demonstrate a tactful and helpful manner in responding to both members' enquiries, bank enquiries, the internal and external auditors and other suppliers, ensuring the confidentiality of information.
Hours of Work
The normal working hours are 36.25 hours per week and will be arranged to fit in with child or other care requirements where possible.
