UPP Residential Services primarily delivers a full range of Facilities Management (FM) and Asset Management services to the university sector. At each of the universities we partner with, we supply a local team that successfully manages and delivers the agreed services. We currently have a great opportunity for a Heavy-Duty Cleaner to join our team.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 15 hours per week, 8am – 6pm Thursday and Friday. The salary is £9,392.40 per annum with the opportunity for overtime.

Please note that this role will be primarily responsible for undertaking the heavy lifting and removal of student refuse (general, recycling, and glass bottles) from the kitchens. Most areas only have stair access, and the role requires high levels of manual handling.

Role responsibilities include:

• Clean designated areas within the Halls of Residence including bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens, and all white goods contained in the kitchens/common areas.
• Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets, sweep and polish floors, and clean stairs.
• Wash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades, and shower curtains, as appropriate.
• Empty waste bins and remove rubbish and glass from flats to bin store areas; tidy bin store areas.
• Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting; collect laundered linen from store and bag and pack laundry for collection during the conference season.
• Take down and re-hang curtains; clean internal/external windows, where applicable.
• Move free-standing furniture as required.
• Complete reactive works & PPMS fire extinguisher checks, fire evacuations, building walk rounds, etc.
• Act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices.
• Daily contact with the residents, Residence Managers, and associated UPP staff.

We are looking for you to already have experience of heavy-duty / deep cleaning in a similar environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with an attention to detail and the passion to always do an excellent job.

You will need to have a good conversational standard of the English language and an ability to read and interpret our Health & Safety guidance. You will also be flexible to work (with notice) additional hours when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.

A current Driving Licence is also essential for this role.
