Job Description
Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and supporting their development
Manage a portfolio of clients, serving as their primary point of contact
Review and finalise financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts prepared by junior staff
Identify and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies
Monitor team workload and delegate tasks appropriately to meet deadlines
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
Prepare high-quality financial statements and accounts for more complex clients
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
Liaise with clients to gather information and discuss financial matters
Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of work
Participate in client meetings and present financial information
Contribute to practice development initiatives and process improvements
Report to managers/partners on team performance and client matters
Assist with training programs for junior accountants and apprentices
Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation
The Successful Applicant
Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or AAT with over 10 years practice experience
Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff members
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation (must have UK practice experience)
Excellent client relationship management skills with confidence in client-facing situations
Experience managing multiple deadlines and prioritising effectively
Proficient with accounting software (Desirable - Xero, Tax calc)
Demonstrated ability to review financial statements and identify errors
Experience handling more complex accounting scenarios and business structures
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Proactive approach to team development and continuous improvement
Ability to work independently while supporting a team structure
Strong organisational and time management skills
Commercial awareness and understanding of client's business needs
What's on Offer
Starting salary of at least £45,000-£55,000 (DOE) 25 days annual leave with extra day off for your birthday (excluding bank holidays)
