This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to regulatory requirements, and a proactive approach to managing varied freight types, including general freight, temperature-controlled, and dangerous goods (DG).

Key Responsibilities:

Freight Booking and Handling

  • Record all freight details, such as weights, dimensions, and packaging type, onto a Goods In Note (GIN).

  • Verify the security of Known Freight through driver identification and a Consignment Security Declaration (CSD) from a Known Consigner (KC) or a Regulated Agent (RA).
  • Conduct internal security screening for Unknown Freight.

Internal Security Screening

  • Participate in x-ray screening, ensuring adherence to security protocols:
  • Complete 10 hours of supervised screening before taking the National X-ray Competency Test (NXCT).
  • Screen shipments using x-ray imaging and documentation such as invoices, packing lists, or Air Waybills (AWB).
  • Apply alternative screening methods for freight unsuitable for x-ray:
  • Personal Hand Search (PHS)
  • Visual Check (VCK)
  • Explosive Trace Detection (ETD)
  • Free Running Explosive Detection Dog (FREDD), ensuring Module 18 certification is achieved.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork and follow restrictions for screening processes.
  • Coordinate with regulated agents or airlines for shipments deemed unscreenable.

Cold Chain Builds

  • Manage temperature-controlled freight storage in chillers maintained at +2 to +8°C.
  • Assemble temperature-controlled PODs according to instructions, including pre-conditioning icepacks and inserting them per configuration.
  • Seal, wrap, and label PODs with temperature control and orientation markings.
  • Capture photographic documentation throughout the assembly process and share details, including weight and dimensions, with relevant stakeholders via email.

Emails and Administrative Duties

  • Monitor and action emails from multiple depots to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Complete and hand over relevant export paperwork to Export Gateway, Air Export Customer Service, or archive for record-keeping.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with freight handling methods and regulatory compliance, including CAA standards.
  • Module 18 certification (or willingness to achieve it).
  • Competency in handling general, temperature-controlled, and DG freight.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in internal security screening and knowledge of x-ray procedures is an advantage.

Training Requirements

  • For experienced candidates: A minimum of one month of training is required to work independently.
  • For inexperienced candidates: Up to five months of training may be needed to achieve full proficiency in export warehouse operations.

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing customer needs and regulatory updates.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

Work Environment
The role involves a dynamic work setting where daily tasks may vary. Physical handling of freight, adherence to temperature control protocols, and coordination across multiple teams are integral parts of the job.
