Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disrepair Building Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and managing building defects, with a particular focus on building pathology and damp and mould issues. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of building construction and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive surveys of residential and commercial properties to identify building defects and disrepair.
2. Perform detailed assessments of damp and mould issues, including identifying the root causes and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
3. Utilise building pathology principles to diagnose and analyse building defects, including structural issues, water ingress, and material degradation.
4. Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and cost estimates for necessary repairs.
5. Liaise with property owners, tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate survey results and coordinate repair work.
6. Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
7. Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in building pathology, damp and mould surveying, and related fields.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (not essential).
2. Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is highly desirable (not essential).
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in building surveying, with a focus on disrepair and building pathology.
4. Proven experience in damp and mould surveying and remediation.
5. Strong knowledge of building construction, materials, and maintenance practices.
6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
