Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly team.
This role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon looking to work in an equally mixed dairy-beef-sheep practice. There is the option of adding in some small animal work should this be of interest.
The ideal candidate will be a Veterinary Surgeon with a bias for farm work, preferably with 1+ years experience. A driving license is an essential requirement for the role.
You will be joining a team of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 of whom have over 20 years’ experience, along with a dedicated Veterinary Nursing and Support team. This is a 3-branch practice, located at the foot of the Sperrin Mountain, where two of the branches have a farm animal handling facility. The main branch is equipped for both farm and small animal practice, including easy scan/small animal ultrasound, IDEXX lab station, microscope, Ovacte, x-ray, endoscope, ECG, and kennelling/stabling facilities. The farm practice has been established for more than 50 years and includes a mix of dairy, beef, and sheep work, consisting of routine health checks, surgery, emergency work, and TB testing.
Nestled in the Sperrin mountains, the main clinic is in a charming town with historical and natural beauty. Nature lovers will appreciate the scenic North of Ireland, with the Sperrin mountains offering breathtaking views and numerous opportunities for hiking. The spectacular North Coast and the Giant Causeway are only a 45-minute drive away. For those seeking city life, Derry and Belfast are a short drive away.
The standard full-time vet rota consists of a 40-hour week, working 1 weekend in 4, with a long weekend off in lieu the following week. There is an OOH requirement to work 1 night per week on call during winter months and 1 night per week every fortnight in summer months. Although this is advertised as a full-time role, the client is open to both full-time and part-time applications.
