JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical & Applications Engineer (HVACR) with a strong background in HVACR to join their growing technical support team. This role will be crucial in providing expert advice on product selection, installation, and operation, supporting both customers and internal teams.

KEY RESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES EXPECTED FROM THE ROLE:

  1. Provide technical support to customers and internal teams regarding HVACR product selection, installation, and operation.
  2. Conduct heat load calculations for cold rooms, cellar cooling, air conditioning, and special applications.
  3. Specify and select equipment for refrigeration systems, including condensing units, coolers, and expansion devices.
  4. Design air conditioning systems, including VRF, using specialist software.
  5. Offer technical solutions for bespoke customer inquiries.
  6. Assist in selecting spare parts for air conditioning units, condensing units, coolers, and line components.
  7. Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  8. Guide customers on programming controllers for refrigeration, heating, humidification, and process control.
  9. Manage warranty claims, liaising with suppliers and the quality department.
  10. Provide internal training for Hawco employees on product applications, installation, safety, and regulations.
  11. Maintain up-to-date technical product knowledge through supplier training and research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

  1. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or a related field.
  2. Previous experience as a Service or Installation Engineer in refrigeration, air conditioning, or both.
  3. In-depth knowledge of HVACR systems, components, and fault diagnosis.
  4. Strong communication skills with the ability to provide technical advice professionally via phone and email.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Ability to quickly absorb and apply knowledge of new products and technologies.
  7. Office-based role with occasional travel for customer visits, supplier meetings, trade shows, and training sessions.
