Maintenance Manager, Holiday Cottage Cornwall

Location: Kingsand and Cawsand, Cornwall

Role Overview: We are looking for a reliable individual to carry out regular maintenance checks for a self-catering holiday cottage, ensuring the property remains in excellent condition for guests. The role involves overseeing general upkeep, addressing maintenance issues, and being on-call to assist guests during their stay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance checks on changeover days between 10 AM and 3 PM.
  • Weekly during high season
  • Twice a week during low season
  • Maintain a Grade II listed property, including performing necessary repairs.
  • Be on-call while the cottage is occupied to provide guest assistance as needed (e.g., addressing minor issues such as appliance problems, leaks, etc.). Call-outs are compensated at £20 per instance.
  • Regularly liaise with the property manager to ensure the property’s safety and compliance with regulations (e.g., PAT tests, gas safety certificates).
  • General upkeep of equipment and property, including:
    • Cleaning and maintaining 2 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, BBQ
    • Replacing light bulbs and ensuring all amenities are in working order
    • Taking out rubbish, checking logs and oil levels, and cleaning gullies
    • Ensuring Wi-Fi is functional
    • Distributing flyers to guests or within the local community

Required Skills:

  • Basic maintenance skills, including:
    • Painting and decorating
    • Repairing minor issues such as leaks, sticking doors, etc.
    • Building or carpentry experience is a plus but not required.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise tasks.

Additional Requirements:

  • Own mobile phone for communication.
  • Local resident with the ability to respond to guest-related issues within 1 hour.
  • Own car for transportation to and from the property.
