About the Role
Tug is on the lookout for an experienced and dynamic Content Lead to cover maternity leave within our SEO and Content team. This is a pivotal role leading content strategy, development, and execution across a variety of digital channels, while managing and inspiring a small but talented team of copywriters and designers. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent editorial judgement, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for compelling, purposeful content. You’ll be confident leading client conversations, supporting new business efforts, and guiding content across multiple sectors and platforms - particularly social.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of copywriters and designers, nurturing creativity and maintaining high standards across all output.
- Oversee and shape content strategy across client accounts, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and audience needs.
- Act as a senior editor—reviewing, refining, and elevating content before it goes out the door.
- Collaborate with SEO, paid media and client services teams to ensure a cohesive and performance-driven approach.
- Contribute to new business pitches and proposals, bringing strategic content thinking to the fore.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering proactive strategic and creative counsel.
- Develop and guide onsite and social content strategies, staying up to date with platform trends and best practices.
- Communicate your creative ideas clearly and confidently in internal and client-facing settings.
- Maintain high standards of design quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
- 4+ years managerial experience – ideally agency side.
- Confident in driving content strategy that balances creativity, clarity, and performance goals.
- Maintain high editorial standards across all formats, ensuring consistency in tone, style, and quality.
- Thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, aligning teams and stakeholders around a clear content vision.
- Strong understanding of platform-specific content (websites, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and what resonates with each audience.
- Experienced in reviewing and QA’ing SEO and performance-driven content to ensure it’s engaging, accurate, and on-brand.
- Data-informed and detail-oriented — using insights to guide content decisions and continuous optimisation.
- Highly organised, with strong editorial processes to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently.
- Able to articulate ideas confidently in client facing meetings and new business pitches.
