Job description

Overview

Waters Birmingham are hiring! Manufacturing Technician, Days.

The successful candidate will perform basic set-ups and operate a variety of machines in the UK machining centre of excellence, working with state of the art 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathes and CMM machines to produce fully conforming components to a prescribed, efficient and timely manufacturing method.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, inspect and certify components to defined specification.
  • Set and operate equipment used in the manufacture of the Company’s defined products.
  • Control, update, back up and maintain issue of CNC programmes.
  • Monitor tool life and aid in the developing of process control by utilising pre-control & statistical process control techniques.
  • Ensure accurate booking to production orders within SAP.
  • In conjunction with the team leader/supervisors, adopt lean manufacturing and continuous improvement opportunities to optimise productivity.
  • Comply with good housekeeping methods and adhere to 5s to support a methodical and efficient work area.
Qualifications

Education:

Apprentice trained, HND, HNC in an Engineering discipline or equivalent proven experience in milling, turning or grinding.

Experience:

  • Operating appropriate CNC machines with the ability to finesse the cutting process.
  • Working in a lean manufacturing production facility.
  • Programming CNC machines.
  • Competent in the use of computerised mechanical shop floor metrology equipment.
  • Heidenhain, Mazatrol and Fanuc experience advantageous.
  • Experience of using Hexagon, Zeiss and Mitutoyo CMMs advantageous.

Competencies:

  • Highly numerate team player with the ability to work to high standards and exacting targets.
  • Ability to manufacture and inspect to engineering drawings with a detailed knowledge of G,D &T.
  • Operation of optical and tactile CMM equipment advantageous.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and with high levels of attention to detail for both manufacture and documentation.
  • Project a flexible, proactive approach, coupled with the willingness to ensure outputs are achieved – working overtime as required.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis at our brand new state of the art machining facility working a double day shift (6am - 2pm & 1.45pm - 21.45pm rotating) with competitive basic salary plus a great shift pay rate.
