Job description

As an Apple Devices Engineer, you will be working in the Apple project team, which provides engineering design, configuration build and deployment to Apple devices across the Nationwide estate, along with support services for non-production and production environments with the IT transformation delivery teams. You will use your technical expertise to create technical artefacts, enabling high quality technical solutions to be delivered at pace.

At Nationwide we openly put our 15 million members at the centre of every decision we make as a business. Every role, no matter what it’s doing, is member focused.

Your success isn’t based on how long you spend at your desk. You’ll have contracted hours, but we’re always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. That might mean working from home or different Nationwide offices or agreeing a working pattern to help you balance work and life. We will always strive to find a way that works for everyone.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 30 and 35.

What you’ll be doing

Working within the AGILE delivery team you will work collaboratively with others to build the best solution for Nationwide using Apple devices. Using your team leadership skills and SME knowledge, you will offer advice/consultancy and help drive continuous improvements and promote best practice through your actions, behaviours, and mentoring. You will also be instrumental in the technical knowledge growth of the Engineering team around you.

You’ll be using your team leadership skills and SME knowledge to work with stakeholder/peers to understand and influence how the technical deliverables coincide with activities outside and within the team and where required provide solutions to align with engineering principles and the architectural strategy.

You may be required to work on call from time to time.

About you

As a minimum you will have/be:

  • A proven track record in providing technical delivery for design, build and implementation of solutions across Apple platforms.
  • Knowledge of macOS, iPadOS and iOS management as well as macOS Application Packaging.
  • Experience in Microsoft Entra, Intune and Office 365.
  • Experience in Jamf Pro.
  • Efficient in Security management and benchmarking for devices across supported platforms.
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and immersing yourself in a team.
  • Capable of writing in-depth technical designs and presenting solutions to a wider non-technical audience.
  • Confident in building good working relationships with both technical and business stakeholders, gaining their respect and trust based on your knowledge and professionalism.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

  • Say it straight - This is about being honest and direct with good intent and saying what needs to be said in the room. It’s also about being clear, precise, and using language that we and, importantly, our customers and members can understand.
  • Push for better - This is about aiming high and constantly looking for better in how we work together and serve our customers and members.
  • Get it done - This is about prioritising what will have the greatest impact, being decisive and taking accountability for delivering on the end-to-end outcome.

  • A personal pension – if you put in 7% of your salary, we’ll top up by a further 16%.
  • Up to 2 days of paid volunteering a year.

  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme.

What makes us different

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.

As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
