Java Data Integration Engineer (Apache Spark)

FPSG's client is an expanding International Software Consultancy. They have a reputation of making high impact with bespoke, autonomous teams embedded in market leading organisations. This particular squad environment needs a strong software engineer with excellent data integration and data processing understanding. Skills required include core Java, Apache Spark, Advanced SQL, Hadoop, and Apache Hive.

To progress in this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate their abilities through participation in several major projects, delivering on complex Core Java with Spark where enterprise data sets are involved.

Role Responsibilities

This role will appeal to software engineering enthusiasts that are committed to all areas of the development cycle. As the projects are a mix of Brown and Green Field, candidates must have the ability to flex across tool choice, design patterns, etc. All engineers will have an opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement through a collaborative agile development approach. The post is not prescriptive, and development will follow an iterative fashion with engagement from various stakeholders, including Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Users.

Person Specification

• Demonstrable experience in Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate
• Familiarity with enterprise complex data concepts
• A demonstrable working knowledge of Apache Spark is required for this post.
• Advanced SQL/MySQL database knowledge
• Familiarity with processing frameworks and tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Apache Hive, and Kafka
• Familiar with CI/CD, Agile, and SCRUM environments
• Prior exposure to complex batch data processing services is highly prized.

Working Pattern

Please note the working pattern is circa 3 days a week in Belfast City Centre; therefore, candidates will be expected to live within a direct commutable distance. Candidates who are open to relocation may be considered, but relocation support is not available.
