ROLE – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - £45,000- £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

TYPE – Permanent

Location- Bristol

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Bristol on a permanent basis.

Attributes:

1. Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally with strong Product Development and Project Management skills
2. Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
3. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, fabrication, welded parts and machining
4. Proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.
5. Knowledge of a variety of materials – sheet metal, injection moulded plastics etc.
6. Able to read engineering drawings
7. Strong leadership skills
8. Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and deliver results on time and budget
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
10. Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and Project Manage the Design, Prototyping, Development, Testing and Introduction of new products
2. Designing and developing new products
3. Using 3D CAD on a daily basis for concept design and producing technical drawings
4. Identifying and managing full lifecycle projects, from bid generation to manufacture and delivery
5. Presenting your designs and justifying decisions for internal and customer reviews
6. Updating 3D models and drawings
7. Producing detailed works schedules, resource and projects plans
8. Liaising with clients as required keeping them up to date with project progress
9. Liaising with manufacturing providers
10. Working with design, purchasing and production departments
11. Being involved in final assembly of products
12. Presenting project plans and reports to management
13. Reporting progress, managing risks and responding to issues
14. Checking drawings for sign off
15. Maintaining technical documentation as required
16. Working in a small, multidisciplined team
