Who we are:
We are a non-profit organisation that launched in 2016. Founded by Grammy award-winning songwriter, Carla Marie Williams. GIR’s mission is to inspire, give hope, provide educational and work opportunities as well as push for gender equality for young women aged 16-30 within the music and creative industries.
We are currently restructuring our team and are looking for the right person to join us!
Who we need:
We are looking for a part-time (hours and pay TBC), Social Media Manager specifically experienced within music to help lead in the development and upkeep of a strong and energetic online presence. With an audience of mostly 16-35 year old black women, the role of Social Media Manager is an important one as this is the main point of communication with our community.
The right candidate will have knowledge across all social media platforms including analytics tools and Ad manager and can also generate exciting and strong ideas for both social media and brand strategy to drive online growth. This is an exciting and immersive role for someone who is both creative and results driven.

Experience you’ll need:
- Proficient using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Mixcloud, Spotify, TikTok, YouTube, Mailchimp and Wordpress.
- Strong admin ability with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Dropbox and Mailchimp, Canva and Photoshop.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the music industry producing impactful organic and paid social media strategies using Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, and Twitter Ads.
- Experience in growing a brands online presence.
- Experience in identifying new trends and producing new ideas for content.
- Experience in producing 360 social media and campaign reports and analytics.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A good understanding of the female music scene, particularly across black dominated genres such as hip hop, drill, afro beats, r&b, dancehall, amapiano etc. Furthermore, a good understanding of black culture.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create monthly newsletters using Mailchimp.
- Create monthly/weekly social media plans for Instagram and key channels.
- Create a content breakdown for management to oversee.
- Approve social media content for the rest of the team.
- Write caption copy in line with our brand tone of voice.
- Schedule content and upload to stories.
- Setup effective social media adverts.
- Create monthly reports and stats for management.
- Utilize templates to create graphics for our YouTube.
- Bring new ideas to the table - build a successful social media strategy.

- You have two years minimum experience specifically with social media marketing in music and must be available for at least a six month period.
- You have a high proficiency and knowledge of TikTok, YouTube, Spotify, Mixcloud.
- You have a good understanding of black culture and the black music scene.
- You have a strong background/experience in the music industry and social media management.
