Senior Multiskilled Technician - Electric Biased
Location: Manchester

Position Summary: The Senior Multiskilled Technician (Electric Biased) will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance and a wide range of general building repairs in a commercial office setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical systems and building maintenance practices. This role requires a proactive individual who is capable of handling various maintenance tasks, ensuring the facility remains operational and safe.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Maintenance:
    Perform routine electrical maintenance, including replacing light bulbs, ballasts, fuses, and addressing electrical faults (outlets, switches, lighting fixtures).
    Test and maintain emergency lighting systems and other electrical equipment.
    Install and maintain electrical systems such as power outlets and data points.
    Ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations and best practices.
  2. General Maintenance:
    Carry out minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks and unclogging drains.
    Perform carpentry tasks, such as hanging doors, repairing furniture, and installing shelving.
    Conduct painting and decorating work as needed.
    Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  3. Building Inspections:
    Conduct regular inspections of the building's facilities to identify and report maintenance issues.
    Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving measures.
  4. Administrative Tasks:
    Maintain accurate records, including work logs and inventory lists.
    Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies.
    Coordinate with contractors and vendors as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Proven experience as a handyperson or in a similar role.
  2. Valid electrical certification or license (as required by local regulations).
  3. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  4. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to perform general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including supervising or directing team members when required.
  8. Ability to perform physical labour and lift heavy objects.
