Job description

Reporting to the Systems Engineering Senior Manager, the Systems Integration Engineer will be responsible for embedding systems engineering skills, methods and toolsets to enable the integrated digital design framework for the programme. There is also the opportunity to employ systems engineering techniques to influence the design of the RR SMR power station and contribute to the delivery of an integrated top-down design.

This is a role that provides breadth across a wide range of design areas, with opportunities to directly influence both the design framework and the design itself. The role involves requirements management, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), design optioneering, stakeholder management, interface management and design information management topics.

The ideal person will have experience in:

  • Develop and document power plant system and sub-system architectures using a model-based approach.
  • Develop and document systems engineering methods, processes and guidance to inform design activity.
  • Roll out integrated digital design methods through training, coaching, and ongoing support to design teams.
  • Perform independent reviews to validate designs.
  • Connect people and information across design silos.
  • Deliver “fast feedback” methodologies and agile ways of working into the design organisation.

We are looking to hear from people with experience in any of the following:

  • Prior experience in Nuclear or other safety critical industry (e.g. Aerospace), operating at system level, would be advantageous.
  • Experience demonstrating influencing skills and dealing with multiple stakeholders to deploy pragmatic problem solving would be advantageous.
  • Experience with agile ways of working would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including either work management and deployment of CI/CD methodologies would be advantageous.
  • Experience utilising Model Based Systems Engineering to de-risk the design of complex systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing design iterations for complex products, including an understanding of the need to deliver fast feedback into the design process, would be advantageous.

Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.

Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector-jump, please get in touch; we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.
