Job description

On behalf of our client, a reputable Accountancy firm based in Exeter, we are looking to recruit an experienced Full Time Probate and Trust and Estates Manager to join their busy Inheritance Tax team.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Partners, Directors and clients providing Probate expertise from initial consultation to the resolution of more complex cases.
  • Working with the Personal Representatives to gather all the information regarding the assets and liabilities of the deceased.
  • Preparation of all IHT accounts required.
  • Calculating the IHT payable (if applicable) and advising on the payment methods that could be available.
  • Applying for the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, depending on which is required.
  • Collecting in the assets.
  • Advising on distributions to the beneficiaries.
  • Preparation of estate accounts.
  • Preparation of all tax returns.
  • Undertaking monthly billing and reporting functions.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience of working in Probate Services and dealing with uncontentious Probate matters.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong knowledge of probate regulations and inheritance tax with a proactive approach to developing probate processes.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, with the ability to organise your own work to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • IT proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise, as there will be significant client contact including client visits where required.
