We are looking for a proactive, IT literate individual to join us here at Southern Water as a Sewer Network Engineer in the Hampshire region.
This role will involve the management and review of the site activities of Southern Water contracting partners carrying out reactive work on wastewater infrastructure assets to ensure that work is undertaken in accordance with health and safety requirements, contract conditions, design specifications, other company rules and regulations, relevant legislation, and construction best practice, as well as ensuring that Southern Water customers and the general public are effectively managed throughout.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations into various sewerage-related incidents to identify solutions and appropriate actions to resolve these issues.
- Act as a key link between the Operational Sewerage Teams and Asset Teams to ensure day-to-day operational issues and sewerage-related incidents are understood and appropriate maintenance is put in place.
- Investigate sewer incidents and identify root causes, recommending remedial works to prevent repeat incidents.
- Liaise with customers during flooding incidents, keeping them informed and managing their expectations.
- Collaborate with the Environment Agency and service providers during pollution incidents to ensure swift resolution and minimal environmental impact.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy in reporting and regulatory obligations.
- Regularly visit sites to record progress and resolve issues with service partners.
Critical Requirements:
- A fundamental knowledge of sewer systems.
- A functional knowledge of the Reactive Sewers end-to-end process.
- A functional knowledge of SIRF, PIRF & MGIS processes.
- A functional knowledge of CSMS & Ellipse.
- An understanding of NRSWA legislation.
- Strong customer service skills to provide confidence and assurance to customers and the Environment Agency.
Qualifications:
BTEC / HNC in Civil Engineering and substantial experience OR minimum of extensive years relevant experience.
