Job description

The Yarmouth (Isle of Wight) Harbour Commissioners are seeking to employ a Seasonal Harbour Water Taxi Driver/Fuel Berth Operative (Temporary Position until 30 September 2025).

The post holder will be required to answer VHF radio and telephone calls from customers, organise the water taxi service, and ensure the safe passage of customers whilst aboard the water taxi.

You will enjoy working with the general public, be self-motivated, versatile, and enthusiastic, committed to maintaining high standards at all times. You will be organised, a good communicator, and be honest, reliable, and punctual.

It is essential that you possess a VHF Radio Licence, Minimum Power Boat Level 2 (Preferably commercially endorsed), Basic Sea Survival, a Medical Certificate ML5 or ENG1, and a Local Authority Boatman’s Licence (or be in a position to obtain them prior to the start date) and that you are able to work on your own initiative, at times without direct supervision.

Previous IT and cash handling experience is required.

A rota system is in operation covering 7 days a week including unsocial hours, weekends, and Bank and Public holidays. Flexibility within the rota is crucial.

Uniform and PPE will be provided.
