Job Title: Network Engineer

Job Description:

We seek an experienced and versatile Network Engineer to join our team in designing, deploying, and managing comprehensive network solutions for events and temporary deployments around the world. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various networking technologies. This role requires adaptability to challenging field conditions and the ability to deliver robust network solutions under tight deadlines.

This role requires extensive travel and significant experience in temporary network deployments focused across varying locations ranging from major conference centers to outdoor environments.

This is NOT a remote position, and candidates are expected to be able to report regularly to the Crawley office when not traveling for network deployments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Network Support and Deployment:

  1. Lead the installation and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
  2. Drive rapid network deployments, ensuring all components are properly integrated and functional
  3. Implement advanced routing protocols and optimize network performance

Wireless Support:

  1. Support the design and implementation of WiFi networks for events
  2. Conduct comprehensive RF site surveys and optimize wireless network performance
  3. Configure and manage wireless controllers and access points independently

Network Security:

  1. Develop and implement robust security strategies for temporary network environments
  2. Configure and manage firewalls and VPNs to ensure data protection
  3. Conduct thorough security audits and recommend improvements

Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  1. Lead the implementation and management of network monitoring solutions
  2. Analyze network performance metrics and implement optimizations
  3. Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple technologies and vendor platforms

Client Relations:

  1. Act as a technical point of contact for clients, understanding their requirements and translating them into technical solutions, answering questions, and providing accurate information about our deployment/services
  2. Collaborate with project managers to develop project timelines and deliverables
  3. Provide regular status updates and technical briefings to internal teams and clients
  4. Address challenges proactively while maintaining a positive attitude
  5. Work closely with senior network engineers, supporting and learning from their expertise
  6. Mentor and guide junior network engineers, sharing expertise and knowledge.
  7. Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and internal training to enhance technical capabilities.
  8. Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  9. Create, update, and maintain network and IT system policies, procedures, and documentation.
  10. Participate in and lead knowledge transfer sessions and internal training to enhance technical capabilities

Qualifications:

  1. Position is in Crawley, UK only.
  2. CCNA or equivalent certification.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
  4. 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 1 year of experience focused on temporary and/or event-based deployments.
  5. Basic knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, etc.).
  6. Experience with Cisco networking equipment and software.
  7. Proficiency in configuring and managing wireless networks.
  8. Basic troubleshooting skills across multi-vendor network environments.
  9. Motivated self-starter with a “team-first” attitude.
  10. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  11. Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  12. Proficient with formal written communications (Outlook, Word, Teams)
  13. Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google platforms (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
  14. Flexible schedule, ability to work weekends, and travel are required
  15. Possess a valid Driver’s License and Passport
  16. Ability to legally operate their own vehicle and company vehicles
  17. Work independently under directions and guidelines without direct supervisor contact
  18. Frequent Travel (domestic and international) on average 10-12 days per month
  19. Must be able to sit for long periods. Must be able to stand, bend over, kneel, reach with both arms, lift up to 40 lbs. and walk long distances

Preferred:

  1. Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  2. Familiarity with cloud networking technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Work is performed both in an office setting and on-site at various event locations. The ability to work in diverse and sometimes challenging environments is essential. Weekend work and flexible hours are often necessary to meet project demands.
