Job Role: ALS Assistant

Start Date: ASAP

Type of Contract: Temporary - Ongoing

Job Purpose and Main Responsibilities:

  1. To provide highly specialised support for students with learning needs and difficulties to ensure successful achievement.
  2. To work collaboratively with Personal Mentors, College Counsellor, Welfare Officer, and Progress Coaches to ensure students receive the targeted support required.
  3. To understand individual needs and preferences of students, to select and adapt tasks, resources, and learning activities leading to positive engagement with students.
  4. To communicate effectively with students for them to understand and participate in learning activities.
  5. To support the development of students' language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  6. To undertake classroom support and/or designated individual/group activity for students with additional support needs.
  7. To monitor student progress towards agreed targets and assist with student review and planning meetings.

Skills & Experience:

  1. GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English.
  2. Experience working within an educational environment providing academic or personal care support.
  3. Experience providing/willingness to provide personal care support to individuals with high needs (i.e., peg feeding, toileting, changing, etc.).
  4. Available to interview immediately.
  5. Right to Work & Enhanced Adult/Child DBS on the update service.
