Group Financial Controller, Senior Manager
Maternity Cover Position

The Group Financial Controller, Senior Manager, will be highly skilled and detail-oriented and will oversee our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial control, and providing ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision-making. Reporting directly to the Principal, Strategic Finance & Financial Control, this individual will manage a team of 4 (2 of which are direct reports) across Financial Control and Accounts Payable to lead the day to day operations of the Finance team. This is a critical role within the business, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company's financial success and long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leading the team in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of performance.
  2. Monthly variance analysis to fully understand and explain month on month performance, and performance against forecasts, culminating in leading the monthly close meeting with C-suite.
  3. Managing the overseas entities and consolidation process, producing the monthly consolidated financial statements that are used for investor reporting.
  4. Providing financial analysis to support business decisions, cost-saving initiatives, and profitability improvement.
  5. Leading the team through statutory processes including the annual audit, and ensuring the timely completion of tax filings and VAT returns.
  6. Implementing and monitoring financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  7. Managing and mentoring the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  8. Supporting strategic planning and business growth initiatives, offering financial insights and risk assessments.
  9. Overseeing systems and process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
  1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and working knowledge of tax regulations.
  3. Experience in a similar financial leadership role, ideally within retail, e-commerce or tech industries.
  4. Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team.
  5. Excellent analytical skills with a strategic mindset.
  6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  7. Proficient in financial systems (Xero experience is beneficial).
  8. High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
