Job Description


The Brand Director (Oncology), is a critical role in the organization and will own and drive the commercial value proposition and positioning for our brands. They will act as an inspiration to the affiliate commercial teams re what's possible and guide how to achieve optimal patient reach for our brands in these first two launch indications.

They will work closely with the Regional Brand Lead and in a highly collaborative manner with cross functional regional colleagues and affiliate/partner markets team members to ensure organization knowledge, experience and capability is harnessed to fully capture the brands potential.

Whilst owning the commercial value proposition, positioning, and aligned tactics across channels, the role also encompasses strong contribution to brand strategic guidance building and leading on a number of fundamental marketing tasks & projects across indications to further the success of the brand. Examples could be broader campaign imagery development, major congress strategy and execution, major peer-peer events, advocacy building strategy, market development work and supply planning.

Essential Functions
  1. Provide regional brand expertise by maintaining in-depth knowledge of the therapy area and brand; is considered an internal regional expert on the relevant therapy areas.
  2. Able to make clear strategic choices within and beyond brand planning, then develop & articulate region wide tactical approaches to subsequently implement to drive brand adoption.
  3. Able to pitch strategic choices, implications and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and compelling manner.
  4. Seek and retain up to date working knowledge of competitive environment and implications for Jazz. Demonstrate Jazz values and acts in line with a clear team charter, their own role and responsibilities and embrace ownership & accountability for their projects. Advises Regional Brand Lead on any recommendations to adjust team working process/governance as and when needed to best fit the needs of the brand and regional business model.
  5. Respectfully drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of brand plans to time and budget commitments.
  6. Accountable for creating a positive brand experience for customers leading to the desired change in customer brand perception and behavior over time.
  7. Be an exceptional collaborator with country brand teams to build relationships, trust and two-way communication to ensure optimal support for affiliate brand execution.
  8. Actively seeks and shares customer feedback and market insights with regional marketing peers and broader cross functional team to enable improved customer and patient focus.
  9. Seeks to identify best practice from within the broader Jazz organization, affiliate and partner level that could be adopted within planning to enhance patient uptake or market impact.
  10. Consistently demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude that exemplifies ownership of business, teamwork with peers, and is respectful of supervisors, peers and customers alike.
  11. Active part of Integrated Brand Planning team for the 3 year regional plan & proactive collaboration with US regional peers.
  12. Clear ability to analyze & integrate multiple perspectives, manage difficult tradeoffs, and clearly communicate resulting brand strategy, initiatives, decisions, and priorities.
  13. Measure success against desired outcomes / results and track performance for effectiveness of their area of brand plan responsibility and works with team to iterate or adjust plans as a result of learnings gained.
  14. Build collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders and relevant medical societies.
  15. At all times act within the letter and spirit of the internal and external codes of conduct and compliance frameworks within which we operate.
  16. Act as an ambassador for JAZZ Pharmaceuticals following our mission of improving patients' lives by living our core values of integrity, passion, collaboration, innovation and the pursuit of excellence.
Qualifications and Education
  1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required as a minimum, ideally in life/medical sciences or business.
  2. Significant marketing experience in the pharma/biotech industry.
  3. Proven experience as a successful, decisive leader in both strategic & operational cross-functional environments and in delivering brand success.
  4. Fluent Spoken & Written English.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Highly motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring marketer with excellent collaborative leadership, demonstrating the ability to bring diverse groups along with them (especially in the context of country alignment and mobilization) on key commercial initiatives - demonstrating an understanding of local cultural and regulatory differences and knowing when to direct vs when to consult/guide.
  2. Experience of launching brands in solid tumour oncology.
  3. Learning agility - able to make sense of large amounts of information from multiple sources quickly and condense down to key actionable insights and pivot strategic thinking and action accordingly.
  4. Innovation - Ability to prioritise in a busy landscape and maintain space to explore new, unconventional and innovative approaches to commercialisation, but also convert these ideas from theory into action and completion - ie able to think beyond the traditional "old-school" pharma engagement model.
  5. Engaging communicator - Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations to large and diverse groups (i.e. account managers through to EILT level) with the ability to 'make the complex' simple for the audience.
  6. Strong project management abilities to enable success in driving multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Proven ability to partner successfully with cross-functional and affiliate teams to ensure delivery against a common goal.
  8. Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse set of individuals/groups both internally & externally.
  9. KEE partnership - Ability to develop, nurture and leverage relationships with international experts in relevant therapy areas which can result in impactful partnerships.
  10. Ability to champion the needs of the patient & their carers/families whilst developing & executing plans and holding peers to account to do the same.
  11. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills to identify, understand and propose plans to address business issues and opportunities in the short and mid term.
  12. Ability to set goals, prioritize activities, and establish/meet challenging timelines to support rapid patient access to medicines and business delivery.
  13. Coaching skills to support colleagues / fellow employees' competency and enhancing positive business impact. Works well and delivers under pressure.
  14. Committed to building and maintaining a cross functional working environment that is a great place to work and operating in line with our Jazz company values.
  15. Proven background in oncology or other highly specialized therapy area, ideally in an Orphan / Rare Disease context.
  16. Experience within both above country and in country pharma working environments advantageous.
  17. Rich expertise in pharmaceutical marketing with track record of both strategic and operational experience leading to positive market impact.
  18. Good experience in pharmaceutical launches.
